Software engineer Kevin Flynn (Bridges) used to be employed by the ENCOM corporation but now runs a video game arcade. When he tries to hack into ENCOM's systems to prove that the company's executive vice president Ed Dillinger (David Warner) stole Flynn's work for his own advancement, his efforts are thwarted by ENCOM's Master Control Program. Joining forces with his former co-workers Alan Bradley (Bruce Boxleitner) and Lora Baines (Cindy Morgan), Flynn breaks into ENCOM and hopes to use Bradley's Tron program to defeat the Master Control Program. However, when he is transported inside the system by the MCP, he must fight to survive a series of deadly games while attempting to find his way back to the real world.
